Anti-Racism Course with Salem Debs

The Anti-Racism Course with Selam Debs is a comprehensive 12-week program designed for individuals and businesses to dismantle unconscious bias, address systemic racism, and center the experiences of Black, Indigenous, and racialized (BIR) communities. With a focus on both self-awareness and activism, the course provides essential tools for developing an anti-racist lens, promoting equity, and engaging in social justice efforts.

Course Structure

The program is delivered over 12 weeks through six bi-weekly modules comprising 44 recorded video lessons. Each module is supported by a PDF workbook with summaries, guided questions, and personal reflection space.

Live Coaching

Participants benefit from eight live coaching sessions with Selam Debs, allowing for interactive discussions and personalized support.

Curriculum Highlights:

  • Canadian History and Systemic Racism: Explores Canada's hidden history and the systemic barriers faced by BIR communities.

  • Whiteness and Privilege: Addresses white privilege, fragility, and supremacy, encouraging empathy and accountability.

  • Implicit Bias and Allyship: Guides participants in identifying unconscious biases and practicing effective allyship.

  • Empowerment and Advocacy: Provides strategies for BIR participants to advocate for themselves and cultivate resilience.

  • Interactive App: Access to a dedicated app for continued learning and engagement throughout the course.

About Selam Debs

Selam is a Black Ethiopian queer woman and mother who has supported over 6,000 individuals in antiracism, anti-oppression and equity training. Selam has worked with companies including Lululemon and not-for-profits like Lutherwood, Carizon, Family & Children Services and John Howard Society. The Antiracism Course has guided municipal libraries, schools and for-profits with over 400 employees through coaching sessions and training. Selam approaches her training and coaching with embodied compassion by calling in each person to their fullest humanity.
