Lewis Center for Church Leadership

Formed within Wesley Theological Seminary in 2003, the Lewis Center for Church Leadership is dedicated to promoting the effective and faithful practice of Christian leadership in the church and the world. Over the past 17 years, the Center has become a trusted resource for church leadership ideas, research, resources, and training. The Center helps seminary students, clergy, lay leaders, and denominational leaders enhance their leadership effectiveness and develop leadership in others.

Founded on the premise that effective leadership is critical to fruitful ministry, the Lewis Center identifies strategic issues crucial to the church's future and provides "actionable strategic insights" to guide congregations and church leaders.

The Center’s current work revolves around three key priorities essential to the future of the church:

  1. Outreach and Inclusion: Assisting congregations and denominations in reaching more people, particularly younger and more diverse populations.

  2. Leadership Development: Enhancing the effectiveness of individual church leaders and fostering leadership development within congregations.

  3. Funding for Ministry: Helping congregations secure adequate funding to sustain and expand their ministries.
