Greater Ontario House of Prayer (GOHOP)

The Greater Ontario House of Prayer (GOHOP) is a praying community in Hamilton, Ontario, dedicated to cultivating deep spiritual rhythms of prayer, discipleship, and mission. As part of the global 24-7 Prayer movement, GOHOP exists to serve and equip the Church by fostering personal and corporate prayer expressions that unite believers across denominations.

GOHOP follows an "Urban Monastery" model, drawing from the rich traditions of monastic communities by practicing rhythms of prayer, worship, study, silence, solitude, fasting, and spiritual direction. Their mission is to strengthen the Church by providing prayer resources, leadership development, and discipleship opportunities.

Prayer Gatherings & Spaces

  • Prayer Room: Open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (8 AM – 8 PM), offering a space for personal and corporate prayer.

  • Annual Prayer Events: GOHOP organizes interactive prayer experiences, including a February TrueCity Prayer Room and a summer Prayer Truck ministry, where volunteers pray with those in need on city streets.

  • Barnabas Listening Prayer Group: A guided space to help individuals and churches discern the voice of God.

Teaching & Leadership Development

GOHOP equips churches and individuals through workshops, retreats, and international teaching engagements. Staff members lead sessions on prayer, discipleship, and spiritual formation, helping ministry leaders grow in their understanding and practice of prayer.

Discipleship & Internship Programs

  • Form & Fire (3-Month Internship): An immersive training in disciplined (Form) and Spirit-empowered (Fire) living.

  • Studies in New Monasticism (9-Month Cohort): A deep dive into prayer, mission, and justice, equipping participants to integrate these values into their ministry.

  • Moving Mountains Discipleship Group: A prayer and leadership development program that has activated many young leaders over the past decade.

Church Support & Partnership

GOHOP is not a church, but a prayer resource and catalyst for local churches. Each staff member is actively involved in a local congregation, and GOHOP seeks to encourage and strengthen church communities through prayer, discipleship, and support.
