Pastor, Do You Have a Minute? – Grief, Resilience, and Christian Ministry

Columbia Theological Seminary is offering a three-part, lunchtime webinar series exploring the interrelated dimensions of grief, resilience, and Christian ministry. Held online September 16, 23, and 30, 2025, the program is intended for both lay and ordained ministers seeking to refresh their pastoral care skills and gain new insights for supporting individuals and communities experiencing grief.

The organizers describe the series as an opportunity to examine sources and expressions of grief today, explore coping strategies, and highlight practices for cultivating resilience. The sessions will approach these topics through a Christian lens, integrating theological reflection with practical pastoral application. This series is designed for continuing education and professional development and is not intended as grief counseling or a support group.

Facilitator: Melissa Kelley – Associate Professor of Pastoral Care and Counseling at Boston College School of Theology and Ministry, pastoral psychotherapist, and fellow in Thanatology (Death, Dying, and Bereavement). Dr. Kelley has published and presented extensively on grief.
