Affirmation and Support for LGBTQI2+ in Our Congregations

June is PRIDE month, a time to celebrate and affirm the diversity within our communities. As ministry leaders, let’s reflect on how we can support and include LGBTQI2+ individuals in our congregations. My recent experience at Regina Pride, offering glitter blessings with The Rev. Amanda Currie, was a profound reminder of the beauty and importance of inclusion. The joy and gratitude expressed by those receiving the blessings highlighted the deep need for affirming spaces within our religious communities.

The Presbyterian Church In Canada’s National Office

For our Ministry Forum community members who are Presbyterians, it's important to know that you are not alone in your efforts to foster inclusivity. The National Office, through its Program Coordinator, Carragh Erhardt, offers support for congregations striving to better understand sexuality and inclusion.

Engaging in meaningful conversations about inclusion is essential for creating welcoming and affirming congregations. I encourage you to utilize the resources available through the National Office as well as others (check out our companion post for those resources). By doing so, we are working toward creating spaces where everyone feels loved, accepted, and valued.
