Resources for Helping Professionals in Ministry
At Ministry Forum, we are intentional in our use of the term ‘ministry leaders’ as a way of including as many different people and contexts as possible. One community we seek to serve is those who may go by titles like Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Spiritual Care Provider, Chaplain, and many others.
For many, they have completed some kind of training not unlike the program that Knox College offers - Master of Pastoral Studies (MPS) and are members of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) or Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC)…more on those below. Many are also bi-vocational as they serve in other ministry contexts as well as these other specialized ministries.
We see you - and you are not alone as you share your gifts for ministry.
Caring for those who care is so very important to us. We believe that any ministry leader can benefit from learning from various practitioners and fields how best to support oneself in the helping professions.
Here are just a few suggestions…
Therapy and Spiritual Care Conference
Our colleague at Presbyterian College in Montreal, Dr. Adrian Langdon - Director of Programs at the Leadership Centre passed along a slightly dated but certainly interesting link to a recorded conference that spoke about caring for those who offer spiritual care.
Mental Health Summit in Canada
Ministry Forum is a sponsor for the Ministry Mental Health Summit in Canada to be held in May at Tyndale University. While this event will provide content around supporting one’s community in the areas of mental health, it will also provide some insights around resilience and self-care for ministry leaders too.
What to Expect:

Professional Development Opportunities - Let Us Know!
We are always looking for ways to support ministry leaders. We’ve heard from time to time that folx who serve in the kind of contexts noted above would appreciate opportunities for professional development.
