Spaces of Encounter Conference

On Friday, November 14, we had the privilege of collaborating with the Toronto School of Theology to host its first-ever full-day conference, Spaces of Encounter: Interdisciplinary Conversations in Theological Research — and what a day it was!

With students and faculty from across TST’s seven member colleges, the event brought together over 100 participants for a stimulating day of academic exchange, reflection, and conversation. Through concurrent sessions, the program featured:

  • 25 paper presentations

  • 4 panels

  • 2 roundtables

  • …covering topics from feminist theology, AI, biblical interpretation and decolonial ethics - to name just a few!

There was a noticeable “buzz” throughout the day with thoughtful dialogue, full rooms, and hallway conversations that carried long past each session. Many participants spoke of the sense of energy, hospitality, and intellectual generosity that shaped the experience.

“This was SUCH A FANTASTIC DAY! Thanks to the leadership of Dr. Darren Dias at TST for catching the vision for it and trusting us to host it. Can’t wait until the next one!” - Rev. John Borthwick, Director for the Centre for Lifelong Learning at Knox College

Our heartfelt thanks go to all presenters, attendees, volunteers, and staff including the team at TST and our own admin and tech team at Ministry Forum - it was great to work alongside you on this one!

We’re already dreaming about what’s next…. stay tuned…
