Bible Project is a nonprofit, crowdfunded organization dedicated to helping people experience the Bible as a unified story that leads to Jesus. By creating free resources like videos, podcasts, articles, and classes, they aim to make the Scriptures both approachable and transformative. Their work emphasizes the literary artistry of the Bible and traces key biblical themes from Genesis to Revelation.

Bible Project’s approach is grounded in a paradigm that views the Bible as a unified story leading to Jesus. This paradigm includes seven key aspects:

  1. Human and Divine Literature: The Bible is a collaborative work between humans and God’s Spirit, revealing divine truths through its human authors.

  2. Ancient Literature: Understanding the Bible requires honoring its historical and cultural context.

  3. Unified Literature: Despite its many authors and styles, the Bible tells one cohesive story about God's creation and redemption of humanity.

  4. Messianic Literature: The Bible’s main themes find their fulfillment in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus and the gift of the Spirit.

  5. Wisdom Literature: The Bible encourages readers to embark on a journey of character transformation and wise living.

  6. Meditation Literature: The Bible is designed to reveal deeper meanings through a lifetime of re-reading and reflection.

  7. Communal Literature: The Bible is meant to be read and studied within a community, fostering a collective journey of learning and living out its story.

Bible Project began with Tim Mackie and Jon Collins, long-time friends and former roommates at Multnomah University. Their goal was to help people read the Bible without falling into common misunderstandings. Combining Tim's deep biblical knowledge and Jon's visual storytelling skills, they created their first videos in 2014. Since then, the project has grown to include hundreds of videos and other resources, expanding into multiple languages and launching a dedicated app.
