Center for Action and Contemplation
The Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC) is an educational nonprofit founded by Richard Rohr in 1987 to introduce seekers to the contemplative Christian path of transformation.
CAC’s mission focuses on integrating action and contemplation, with the understanding that true transformation comes from holding these two together.
CAC’s vision is to foster a world where transformed people work together for a more just and connected society, and it provides resources for individuals to deepen their spiritual practice, grow in compassionate engagement, and awaken to a shared oneness with God and creation.
CAC offers a variety of resources designed to guide seekers on the contemplative path, including Daily Meditations from Richard Rohr, podcasts that explore contemplative spirituality and social justice, online education through self-paced courses on mystical and contemplative traditions, and live events that focus on deepening prayer practices and compassionate action.
The Living School, a two-year intensive program, offers a deeper opportunity for individuals to embody contemplative spirituality and engage in transformative practices.
CAC’s core faculty, including Barbara Holmes, Brian McLaren, James Finley, and Cynthia Bourgeault, continue to build on Rohr’s vision, bringing wisdom from diverse contemplative and mystical traditions.
