4 Seasons of Indigenous Learning

Organized by The Outdoor Learning School & Store

The Outdoor Learning School & Store offers 4 Seasons of Indigenous Learning, an Indigenous-led course open to all, running annually from fall to spring with time for reflection in the summer. The program is designed to deepen participants’ understanding of Indigenous knowledge and perspectives, foster stronger connections with the local Land, and encourage respectful, reciprocal relationships.

12 hours of self-paced learning each year (approximately one hour per month), complemented by monthly virtual presentations with Indigenous presenters. Participants may enroll in one of four themed “seasons” or choose to attend only the presentations.

Program Seasons (2025–2026):

  • Season 1 – Foundations of Knowledge: Focuses on Indigenous culture, history, and perspectives.

  • Season 2 – Learning from the Land: Builds understanding and personal connection to local Land. (Prerequisite: Season 1 recommended.)

  • Season 3 – Reciprocal Relationships: Explores relationships with and between the Land and Indigenous Peoples. (Prerequisite: Season 2 recommended.)

  • Season 4 – Reflective Action: Integrates prior learning into action for truth and reconciliation. (Prerequisite: Season 3 recommended.)

  • Just the Presentations: For those who wish to participate in the talks without the module-based learning.

  • 1-Year Extension: Available for past registrants needing more time to complete Seasons 1 or 2 (fee: $50).
