In light of The Presbyterian Church in Canada’s commitment to address and dismantle anti-Judaism, this webinar explores a difficult and important strand of Christian history. Anti-Jewish sentiment remains a global reality, and the church has not been immune from perpetuating harmful narratives with lasting consequences.
Led by Patricia Ahearne-Kroll, this lecture focuses on how certain strands of biblical scholarship have relied on stereotypes of Judaism. Dr. Ahearne-Kroll will examine how misreadings of New Testament texts by scholars have helped reinforce anti-Jewish interpretations, shaping theology, preaching, and church life in damaging ways.
This session offers participants an opportunity to reflect critically on inherited assumptions, deepen their understanding of Judaism and Christianity’s shared and contested histories, and consider more responsible and life-giving approaches to biblical interpretation. It is designed for clergy, lay leaders, educators, and anyone committed to justice, reconciliation, and faithful scholarship.
