Why Presbyterians Are Like That (PCUSA)
Why Presbyterians Are Like That is a Bible study created to help people explore what it means to be Presbyterian. Created by the Office of Christian Formation (PCUSA) in partnership with UKirk Collegiate Ministries, it offers a clear and engaging way to reflect on beliefs, values, and identity. Whether used in a college group, adult Sunday school class, new member session, or leadership training, the resource helps participants connect key Presbyterian convictions to real life and Scripture.
The study emphasizes that while Presbyterians share core beliefs with many Christians, they bring a distinct voice shaped by how they read the Bible, understand grace, and live in community. Each lesson includes thoughtful prompts for discussion and application. The resource comes in two editions: one for college students and one for congregations more broadly. Topics include justice, sin, hope, humility, and how Presbyterians approach the Bible.
Downloads also include a suggestions guide with creative ideas for how to use the material in various ministry settings, including multigenerational Bible studies, and even sermon planning.
