Returning to The Bible Again and Again | Resources We Love
At Ministry Forum, we believe in returning to Scripture again and again and again. The Bible is foundational to our faith and also to our diverse roles as ministry leaders.
Over the past couple of years, we've spent time talking with leaders across the country. This spring, we hosted a series of listening sessions, and one of the clearest things we heard was how people are feeling about Bible study. The desire is there. But so are the challenges…
People spoke honestly about the struggles: not knowing where to start, not having the right resources, not having enough people willing to lead. There were fears about how to keep group discussions healthy and engaging. There was uncertainty about how to create space for honest questions while still grounding the conversation in Scripture.
These are real concerns. And, truthfully, it makes us sad to hear how difficult it can feel to do something that should be core to who we are as the Church. But it's also one of the reasons Ministry Forum exists - to be a space where we can name these challenges and start working together toward real solutions. Whether that’s through tools, resources, community, or conversation, we want to be part of helping leaders reimagine what Bible study can look like in their own context.
This is a conversation we’ve been having with a number of ministry leaders, including Dr. Derek Suderman (our podcast guest this week – check it out here). Derek has a deep understanding of Scripture and a real heart for the church. We're thankful to be working with him.
Last fall, we led a series with Derek called Catching the Spark, where 60 to 80 people gathered in-person each week to engage the Bible in a new way. These were dynamic, curious, and engaging sessions with a diverse group of individuals from many different denominational and non-denominational backgrounds. We heard incredible feedback from those who took part – many who said they would love to be a part of (or even lead) an experience like it again in the future.
Looking ahead to 2026, we’re working on a few new initiatives that we’re excited to share in the months to come. Bible study will continue to be one of our key areas of focus, and we’re looking forward to creating new opportunities to learn, grow, and lead together.
But for now—for this week—we simply want to highlight some of the Bible and Bible study resources currently available on our Resource Hub. These are tools that might support you as you step into the Advent season, prepare for a new year of ministry, or simply seek a deeper connection with God in your personal faith journey.
Wherever you're starting from, we hope something here helps you take the next step.
