Church Conflict Management 101
Church Conflict Management 101 is an online course developed for ministry leaders who need structured, accessible training in how to address and resolve conflict in a church context. Offered through Trinity Evangelical University and Seminary, the course provides a practical introduction to the dynamics of church conflict and how leaders can navigate them with biblical integrity and relational wisdom.
Instructor Rev. Dr. Richard Blue, Jr. guides students through 14 modules covering topics such as the nature of church conflict, the role of communication, forgiveness, mediation, and the application of Matthew 18 principles. The course also includes modules on dealing with difficult personalities, restoring trust, and implementing long-term strategies that prevent recurring issues. The course focuses on real-world leadership challenges and offers skills to help participants create healthier ministry environments.
Church leaders can use this course as a team training tool for clergy, elders, or conflict resolution teams. It may also serve as an onboarding resource for new leaders stepping into complex ministry dynamics. Because the course includes modules on both prevention and reconciliation, it could work for proactive leadership development. You could also consider integrating one module per week into a leadership training calendar, or offer the course as a required component for those joining staff or church boards.
